Needle Roller Bearing

Needle Roller Bearing

Needle roller bearing is a special type of roller bearing which uses long, thin cylindrical rollers resembling needles. Ordinary   roller bearings'rollers are only slightly longer than their diame- ter, but needle bearings typically have rollers that are at least     four times longer than their diameter.

Needle roller bearings are used in a variety of applications, such as automobile engines, transmission, pumps, compressors, agricultural and construction equipment.

There are main three types of needle roller bearings:

1. Radial needle roller and cage assemblies ( Fig. 1 ) is available as single-row and double-row and have a steel cage that pro- vides both inward and outward retention for the needle rollers.

2. Drawn cup needle roller bearings ( Fig. 2 ) have a deep drawn, thin-walled outer ring. These bearings are

mounted with a tight interference fit in the housing This enables a simple and economic design of the housing bore, as shoulders or snap rings are not required to locate the bearing axially.

Available open (without seals) or sealed on one or both sides.Available open or sealed.Suitable forbearing arrangements where they are situated at the end of a shaft. The full complement drawn cup bearing combines maximum load-carrying capability with  the advantages of the drawn outer ring. The one-piece steel cage, used in most caged drawn cup bearings, is designed to provide rigidity and minimize wear.

3. Needle roller bearings with machined rings (Fig.3) are made of carbon chromium bearing steel. These bearings are  available as single-row and double-row.
